RESEARCH ON STUDENTS' AND TEACHERS' VIEWS ON DISTANCE LEARNING

Abstract

The article analyzes the peculiarities of organizing distance learning and the viewers of teachers and students to enhance the educational process. The widespread adoption of distance learning happened suddenly due to the pandemic, without a gradual transition. COVID-19 temporarily made traditional education impossible, making computer-based learning the only viable option in the education system. However, e-learning does not necessarily imply remote learning. Today, educational institutions are expanding their distance learning systems, leading to a growing body of research on the topic. Regular research is essential to assess the strengths and weaknesses of distance learning, particularly from the perspectives of both students and teachers. To explore perceptions of distance education effectiveness, a questionnaire, pedagogical observation, and a survey were conducted. The key findings of the survey include the following: adaptation to online learning was rapid, offline education remains more interactive, and participants still consider it more effective. Although distance learning is viewed as convenient, most respondents expressed reluctance to continue studying in this format. Respondents acknowledged both the benefits and drawbacks of distance learning. On the positive side, it offers flexibility in time and location and provides access to a vast range of educational materials. However, challenges include inadequate technical resources for participants and a lack of skills necessary for online teaching and learning. The respondents believe that the optimal approach would be to combine the advantages of both distance and face-to-face learning formats.
