WAYS OF FORMING MOTIVATION FOR LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF SES OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of the formation of motivation for learning a foreign language in specialized higher educational institutions of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. An analysis of publications devoted to the motivation problem, its types, and various aspects of the formation of educational motivation during foreign language learning was carried out. The results of a survey of the first-year students of higher education in multiple specialties of Cherkasy Institute of Fire Safety, named after Chornobyl Heroes of the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine, regarding the motives for learning a foreign language and the main difficulties that arise during this process are presented. The complex problem of increasing motivation is solved comprehensively, emphasizing learning content, language teaching methods, and the psychological component of learning. The authors emphasize the role of the teacher, his personality and professional training, and his mastery of modern methods of teaching foreign languages. Taking into account the shortage of time for learning foreign languages in specialized institutions of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, special attention is paid to the content of education and the choice of educational material, taking into account the individual and professional interests of students of higher education. The authors single out innovative educational activities such as educational platforms and interactive programs that can diversify the learning process, adapt educational materials to the level of knowledge of students and cadets, provide personalized tasks, and select optimal learning methods. The authors emphasize the need to consider the psychological component of mastering a foreign language, forming a positive attitude towards the subject, and leveling past negative experiences. Based on the analysis of the survey results, recommendations are given regarding the formation of positive motivation for learning a foreign language in non-language higher educational institutions.
