DIGITAL RESOURCES AND PLATFORMS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCE IN THE FIELD OF NATIONAL SECURITY AND DEFENSE OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The article reveals the theoretical and practical aspects of using digital resources and online platforms in the process of developing English communicative competence of future specialists in the national security and defence sector of Ukraine. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing requirements for English proficiency as the language of international military and professional communication, as well as by the need to integrate modern digital technologies into the educational process of higher education institutions with specific learning conditions. The paper analyses scientific approaches to the interpretation of the concepts of “English communicative competence”, “digital educational resources”, and “online foreign language learning platforms” within the framework of competence-based, activity-oriented, and professionally oriented approaches. The didactic potential of such digital tools as educational platforms, mobile applications, interactive services, learning management systems, and multimedia resources is outlined, as they ensure flexibility, continuity, and variability of the learning process. The pedagogical conditions for the effective use of digital resources in professionally oriented foreign language training of future officers are identified, including the integration of digital technologies into the content of academic disciplines, the application of interactive and communicative teaching methods, the provision of interdisciplinary interaction, and the development of learners’ autonomy. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of digital platforms for individualising learning, organising independent work, and objectively assessing the level of English communicative competence. The role of digital resources in modelling professionally significant communicative situations close to real conditions of security and defence activities is emphasised. The research results confirm that systematic and methodologically grounded use of digital resources and platforms enhances cadets’ motivation, develops their language skills, contributes to the formation of professionally significant English communicative competence, and ensures readiness for effective intercultural interaction in the international security environment.
