Abstract

The article substantiates the relevance of the partnership between preschool educational institutions and families in implementing the principles of sustainable development in the preschool education system. It is emphasized that the family and the preschool educational institution are the leading social institutions responsible for shaping preschool children’s value orientations of sustainable development, environmental culture, social responsibility, and the foundations of a healthy lifestyle. The theoretical foundations of the partnership between preschool educational institutions and families are analyzed, and its essence is defined as pedagogical interaction grounded in the principles of trust, mutual respect, equality, and shared responsibility for the outcomes of a child’s upbringing and development. The main objectives of education for sustainable development in preschool age are outlined, in particular, the formation of children’s initial ideas about the interrelationship between humans, society, and nature, the development of environmentally appropriate behavior, and the ability to make responsible choices in everyday life. The paper highlights modern approaches to organizing cooperation between teachers and parents aimed at integrating the ideas of sustainable development into the educational process of preschool institutions and family upbringing. Effective forms and methods of partnership interaction are identified, including innovative parent meetings, trainings, workshops, joint projects, environmental actions, consultations, information and educational activities, and the use of digital resources for communication with parents. Special attention is paid to enhancing parental competence in the field of education for sustainable development and creating a unified educational environment, “preschool educational institution – family.” Practical recommendations for involving parents in shaping preschool children’s value orientations toward sustainable development through everyday activities, family traditions, and joint initiatives are presented. It is concluded that an effective partnership between preschool educational institutions and families is an essential condition for the successful implementation of education for the sustainable development of preschool children and contributes to the formation of a responsible, environmentally conscious, and socially active child. The article's materials can be used by preschool educators in their work with parents and in the development of programs and projects on education for sustainable development.
