The proposed work is devoted to the development of a theoretical substantiation of the system of classification of different ways of lifting an athlete with a fixed rope. The specificity of mountain tourism competitions determines the need for a clear classification of ways to perform a sportsman's ascent. The existence of such a classification that covers all possible ways of performing the ascent with a fixed rope excludes the possibility of receiving penalty points related to violations of the athlete's tactics on the course. Given that there are currently no such criteria for evaluating lifting methods, there is a need to conduct research in this area. The purpose of the work is to provide the possibility of developing a logical and transparent system for classifying all theoretically possible lifting methods. As the main tool for accomplishing this task, it is proposed to use the developed algorithm of the sequence of actions when performing a single cycle of lifting by an athlete. The developed algorithm for performing technical actions describes the physical principles of a single lifting cycle. The algorithm proposed in this paper makes it possible to objectively evaluate and classify the entire complex of technical actions that must be performed to carry out a single lifting cycle. Also, to describe the technique of lifting, it is proposed to use the method of creating the “main lifting force” and the method of creating the “main blocking force of movement” as the main evaluation criteria. It has been determined that the connection of the fixing device attached to the support rope to the athlete's body conditionally belongs to one of three possible groups: “arm”, “chest” or “leg” of the athlete. On the basis of the data obtained, an enlarged classification of lifting methods is proposed, based on the method of creating the main forces.
