This article focuses on how individual learning styles impact the effectiveness of foreign language learning among computer specialties’ students. The research is based on a theoretical analysis of scientific literature and a synthesis of empirical research results. The study aims to determine the correlation between individual learning styles and the effectiveness of foreign language learning in the IT field.
The article examines the main theoretical approaches to understanding learning styles, particularly the model of P. Honey and A. Mumford, which identifies four main styles: reflector, activist, theorist, and pragmatist. The article analyzes how these styles manifest in computer specialties’ students and how they influence the choice of foreign language learning strategies.
A thorough review of Ukrainian and foreign research in education and pedagogy revealed that individual learning styles play a crucial role in foreign language acquisition. Students with different learning styles require different approaches and teaching methods. A deep understanding of grammatical rules and lexical nuances is essential for theoretical learners, while pragmatic learners focus more on the language's practical application. The article proposes several recommendations for optimizing the learning process, considering the individual learning styles of computer specialties’ students.
The study results demonstrate the need for personalized learning to improve the effectiveness of foreign language learning among computer specialties’ students. Taking into account the individual characteristics of each student will create a more comfortable learning environment and contribute to the development of both language skills and professional competencies.
