Abstract

This article examines the main strategies and methods for teaching foreign languages in higher education. Foreign language learning in higher education is central to the modern education system and opens up new opportunities for students in a global world. This article provides an in-depth analysis of the key strategies and methods of foreign language teaching, based on an effective analysis of academic research and data on the subject. It finds that effective language teaching requires a comprehensive approach and consideration of the diversity of individual students’ needs. The article highlights the importance of practical language use for students in future careers and international interactions. This approach helps students to see the concrete benefits of language learning and stimulates their interest. Recognising the diversity of students’ individual language learning needs, the article focuses on academic goals, cultural immersion, travel and other aspects. It explores what strategies can be used to meet these different needs and create individual learning plans. For example, students who intend to work in a foreign language environment may prefer specialised courses and practical training aimed at developing business language and intercultural communication. Part of the article is devoted to increasing student motivation. The author discusses different approaches to stimulate students’ interest in language learning through practical projects, international internships, language clubs and other methods. An important element of this approach is the creation of learning scenarios adapted to students’ individual interests, thus ensuring their active participation in the learning process. Integrating practical language use in real-life settings, increasing motivation through practical projects and involving students in the international community can serve as key elements of successful foreign language learning in the university environment.
