DEVELOPMENT OF LOGICAL COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS IN MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION WHEN SOLVING LOGICAL PROBLEMS

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reveal the meaning and role of the study of the topic "Formal logic in solving the problems of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases" for the development of logical competence in the system of professional competences of the future doctor. To achieve the goal, the methods of systematization of theoretical and practical material, its substantiation, and generalization were used. The issue of development logical competence among students of higher medical education during the study of the discipline "Medical Informatics" is considered. During the analysis of scientific research literature, the main approaches to the interpretation of the concept of "logical competence" as a component of mathematical competence were determined. Specific features of professionally oriented teaching of the discipline "Medical informatics", in particular, when studying the topic "Formal logic in solving the problems of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases", in a medical institution of higher education were highlighted. Examples of problems of the logical content of the professional direction for students of higher education, in particular for the educational and professional program "Dentistry", are developed and given. It was found that the solution of this type of problems contributes to the actualization of intersubject connections of the algebra of logic with the disciplines of the professional cycle, the development of practical skills for solving logical problems of medical content, the development of logical thinking, which is the basis of logical competence. The functions of such tasks and methods of solving them are described. In addition, the important role of the study of logical operations, the sequence of their execution, the laws of logic for application to problems of medical content with the aim of forming logical thinking, and therefore logical competence, developing consistent and evidential thinking, based on available data, the formulation of conclusions, their justification, was noted. Such qualities are needed by future doctors in the future when applying a modern approach to medical practice - evidence-based medicine, which is based on objective facts that involve the search, comparison, and generalization of the received evidence to use it in the interests of the patient. Thus, the formed logical competence will help future doctors to make the right decisions in difficult clinical situations.
