There is a difficult situation with the Covid-19 in the world and in Ukraine in particular, the introduction of martial law and the transition to remote form of learning in all educational institutions require the use of effective tools and teaching methods. The article deals with theoretical principles of students' learner autonomy development in the conditions of gamification tools' application. The author provides an overview of the "learner autonomy" definitions, which were published by foreign and Ukrainian scientists and makes conclusions, leading to the summarized definition of the studied concept as "the ability to take responsibility for one's own learning."
Also, during the study of the theme, scientific works on the gamification of the educational process and the use of topical gamified teaching tools in modern conditions in higher education institutions were made. Here, gamification is presented as an effective mean of improving students' involvement in the educational process, creating additional incentives in learning, increasing the number of interested students in the educational process in modern conditions. The article provides a general definition of the term "gamification" and supplies examples of its application. Examples of gamification implementation in the world practice are also provided. Different types of gamified tools are considered, such as levels, points, virtual currencies, avatars, reflection, progress, quests, competitions, virtual journey, participation in history, online platforms, applications. Based on the information and data received, it has been revealed that gamification increases students ' motivation in terms of educational and cognitive activity, increases productivity and encourages educational productivity, promotes the formation of students' learner autonomy, enabling students to feel a connection between real life conditions and studied material, to choose time, amount of educational material and activities for mastering or revision of educational content.
